Procedure demonstrates extrafascial hysterectomy in combination with posterior peritonectomy.
Description
Procedure demonstrates extrafascial hysterectomy in combination with posterior peritonectomy. It is frequently part of cytoreductive surgery in ovarian cancer cases with peritoneal pelvic carcinomatosis. During simple hysterectomy, posterior leaf of the broad ligament is separated and spared. After complete excision from the vagina, the uterus is fixed in the pelvis by the posterior peritoneum. Ureters are carefully dissected and peritoneum is gradually excised from the whole pelvis without macroscopic tumor residuum.
